Day Trip from Marrakech to the High Atlas Mountains with ouirgane Dam Boat Ride
Your adventure begins at 9:30 AM with a comfortable pick-up from Marrakech. We head towards the charming town of Tahanaout, where you can stop to take stunning photos of the surrounding mountains and local life.
Next, we visit a traditional Argan oil cooperative, where you will be welcomed with a refreshing glass of Moroccan mint tea. Here, you will learn about the centuries-old process of making Argan oil and its various uses in cooking and cosmetics.
If your trip falls on a Tuesday or Saturday, you’ll experience the vibrant weekly souk in Tahanaout — a colorful market where locals gather to buy and sell fresh produce, spices, handicrafts, and livestock. It’s a perfect opportunity to experience authentic Moroccan culture.
From there, we travel deeper into the High Atlas Mountains to visit the oldest village in the region, famous for its traditional salt extraction. You’ll witness how locals have been harvesting salt for generations using time-honored techniques.
Then, we stop at a cozy, family-run restaurant for a delicious traditional Moroccan lunch, featuring tajine, fresh bread, and seasonal vegetables.
